I was not born to collect shopping carts

So i got a PART TIME MINIMUM WAGE job at Vons. This is just to hold me over until i get something better, but still. I mean, im 21. While Mr. Economy is slacking off and sticking head up the ass of hopelessness, Im stuck with a job thats meant for 14 year olds piggy banks. ugh. I have dreamt many a time about being born in a different era. I mean i love technology, and yea were all equal nowadays and whatnot, but UGH UGH UGH. thats right, 3 fully capitalized ughs. I mean, im white, i could survive in the old world. Of course im also Irish and protestant.... known for indentured servitude, starving to death, and burning at the stake.... but WHATEVER you know? I would be an awesome swordsman, known throughout the lands, so nobody could touch me. None of this fingerprint satellite crap could touch me. Heck, i could even be a pirate. Pirates were equal with each other, i dont gotta worry about unfortunate heritage on the ol open ocean. Fernando, Jamar, and Ol Thomas could all live happily together as we pillage town and sink government ships. Ok its settled, in order to insure i wouldnt be caught in the racism / classism (?) of the olden days, i will become a world renowned sword master pirate. done deal.

Oh how wonderful it would be to not have to scour Craigslist for retail jobs, no, i would instead scour maps for small islands we could take over. Heck, we could even be nice pirates, who just go steal from asshats like the English. But no. Instead i was born into the world and quickly handed a social security number. I also found out the hard way that bringing my knife collection to school is a bad idea (actually i didnt get caught, but i did do this often). Yes, i was born into a world without hero's (with the small exception of that Jesus guy, but hes sort of on a different level). So right now, at the age of 21, i would be in my prime. I would wear awesome pirate bandannas, have an awesome long pirate gotee, and sport some hecka intimidating ninja-like doubloons. People would know me wherever i went, and i wouldnt fear death in the least, because i was brought up in the pirate world from a young age. No worries, just the open ocean and my Katana... or maybe double sabers... either way. But again.... this is not so. I am 21, and in my prime... bagging groceries, paying taxes, and the only hope of a fighting lifestyle is the military, which is hardly desirable being a pawn of politics. Pirates are mostly sailing the cyber seas, which i suppose i am, but its hardly a death defying life. All the sheep of the world walk around in their little meaningless lives pretending to make a difference. BLEEEHHHGH!

maybe a little melodramatic. maybe. But you get the picture. So this goes through my head once every.... i dunno.... MINUTE. Im sure im not alone. While little girls dream of becoming princesses and being loved, little boys dream of killing their enemies. "Thats not God-like!!!" right?? Well Davids life was pretty damn awesome if you ask me!!! Oh God, give me the armies of evil to vanquish.... Ill take them out with my double sabers! Obviously i dont dream of becoming a murderer, there are plenty of people who are killable, come on. Yea yea i know i sound horrible, but if youre a guy, and the world hasnt sucked the last bit of testosterone out of you then you know EXACTLY what i mean.

So it sounds like i have a horrible life. Well, i dont. I have a great life.... but theres just that OTHER life that i will always dream of. I always try and end my thoughts with, "well heaven is supposed to be better than the human mind can imagine right? whew..." so yea. But my life is good, especially just moving to the big SD. Its different, and theres some people i definitely wish i could drag down here with me... but hey, its something new. I go on little adventures here and there, swimming up sketchy looking dark caves in uninhabited places, gathering the crew up for jungle hikes every time a storm comes in... but although their fun, im not really DOING anything. Bah, still i guess its something eh?

Well i train for Cart-boy job tomorrow... thats why this is again going through my head. It doesnt help that im constantly watching these adventurous violent anime series all the time. Im crossing my fingers for some kind of Alien invasion or Zombie outbreak soon. This would be good. Only good can come from such things. Itll probably happen, ill just wait.

a sad, mere shell of what was once great. modern day non-digital pirates seem to be more like bards, or hobbits, then daring sword fighting treasure hunting sailors.

sony vs. mac

so i used to think macs were ridiculous compared to PCs (and i guess they did used to be), but lately, as i was forced to use them when working for Shoreline, and as they are coming out with better products now, i no longer consider myself anti-mac. I in fact think macs are pretty cool, they have some great programs, and they can be good computers. Point being, i got no problems with mr. mac.

Now lets not get carried away, PCs are still far better than macs in almost every way (i should say micsrosft based PCs, as macs technially are PCs as well). I understand that this is an opinion, by im not just some joe shmo average computer user... i consider myself to be quite literate in everything that is "computer." Nevertheless Macs are still a great tool, just because HD projectors are more amazing doesnt mean a 70 inch LCD tv isnt also amazing right (that was an analogy)?

This is going somewhere i promise, i just felt since im on the subject i might as well just lay it down for you. Ill continue...

Now Mac users... thats a whole other story. "Mac people" swear that they are so superior its funny. Especially considering most mac users know little more than how to open safari. They just arent willing to liten to reason, stubborn stubborn stubbon, and usually arrogant as well. At least thats the stereotype theyve made for themselves. Now before all my mac using friends get all up in arms (like i would expect) let me say this is not an absolute stereotype. I happen to know a few mac users that know what theye talking about, and anybody that knows more than a thing or two about computers knows that macs are cetainly not superior to PCs... at the very best they are equal, and it boils down to opinion (although i disagree, as macs OS is the most restrictive softeware ever). Anyway, just saying, not all mac users are stuck up coffee house hippies whos main source of debate knowledge for the subject comes from the hilareously false mac commercials.

Speaking of Mac commercials, one of the reasons they are doing so well is, i admit, their marketing is AMAZING. First off they just look cool. If you have ever talked "design" with me you know im a fan of the simple, yet stand out approach. They master is, and look great. Though their commercials are absolute lies, they are smart. Most people dont know squat about computers, so when they see those commercials, it spells out something they understand. "PC fat and stupid, Mac super hip." It annoys people who know what the hell theyre talking about, but hey, Mac is a business, they want to sell, thats how it is. Theyre smart, those wolves. And lastly, Mac stores. They are awesome. Along the same lines as simple and stand out, they are so different, but work so well. Theres nothing quite like a mac store, and people seem to gravitate towards them even if they have no intention of buying anything. Mac marketing = good good good.

So after this, any PC person that reads this is probably all pumped up, ready to spread the Microsoft gospel to the lowly pagan Mac sheep. Any Mac person reading this is probably sitting in their bamboo super stylish chair throwing their cup of hot earl grey tea at the wall. But reast easy both of you... my intention wasnt war. Im just giving you my personal background of the situation so that you can experience the same joy and discovery that i felt when i get to my point. so lets review.

-Used to hate macs
-Mac picked up their game, i now think their pretty neato (though overpriced, but thats a whole other tyrade)
-Still think (know) PCs are better in about every way
-Most Mac loyalists annoy me
-but i cant help admit they have a cool feel to them. and great marketing. cool stores.

This is where my point comes in. I always thought to myself "Why doesnt microsoft, or some PC company start taking chances with their look. All the pre made PCs look mostly liek garbage compared to the look of macs. When i think "PC store" i think best buy or something. Meh.

Until i went in to the "Sony Style" store. As the name implies, its everything that is Sony. (vaio = sony by the way).

This store put the mac store to shame. Certainly Mac stores still have a unigue feel, Sony didnt copy the mac store, they just kicked its ass. Living in a big city now, these type of stores exists, and whoo, im glad they do. They have a bunch of little living rooms decked out with their gear. You feel like your in Tony Starks house, not a store (except everything is for sale). And the non-living area looking part of the store looks like the Starship Enterprise docked in Tokyo (thats the big space ship from Star Trek). Oh its wonderful. I looked around online and it looks as if they are pretty brand new, so there arent tons of photos floating around... but ill leave you with the best ones i could find, which doesnt really do it justice, but hey, the internet isnt real life, what do you expect?

again, i couldnt find any quite like the one i went into... they are a brand new chain. I wanted to find one of the living room type things but no go, we'll just have to wait for ol sony style to get a little bit older before pictures of him are cycling the interwebs.

And dont go saying, "hey BRO, mac stores are better, theyre just goin for a different look!"

well duh, bro, but the sony look is way... way... better. One thing i will give you, is sony has a whole lot more than computers to offer than mac does, so naturally having all of Sony's products to fill the store puts an edge on it. However, its obvious computers are the main focus, and that Sony is definitly dipping the Mac's seas (eww). So no matter what the situation, These stores and Mac stores are gonna get compared, and i gotta say, even if there were only computers, i sure like the design of these stores.

on another note, Monkey D. Luffy and his crew have defeated CP9, and are charged with burning down Enies Lobby. the total bounty for the crew exceeds $650,000,000. This is exciting news.

Oh, Hello there.

Ok im writing this sentece AFTER i wrote this whole blog. Lets just call this a disclaimer. When one doesnt blog for a long time, the first post is always more of a rant (at least in my experience), because Im trying to tell you so much in just one post. That being said, This first post is more of a rant of where i am, and what im doing. I promise blogs in the future will be much more coherent and entertaining... this one is just mandatory to kick it off.... lets just call it.....

the intro...

So I saw Tyler's blog the other day and it reminded me i made this. I always say im gonna start blogging again, but i always end up just forgetting about it. Its not like i don't spend a lot of time on the computer anymore, i just usually get caught up in doing other things. Anyway, no point in explaining myself to myself... we'll just give it another shot.

So im in san diego now. Yeap, i moved away from the Monterey County land. I must say, if I had grown up in a place like San Diego i would be a lot different. I don't regret growing up where i did at all, but man, living here makes me realize just how dull Monterey County is. It is truley an old people's haven. Sure it looks nice, and everything is beautful blah blah blah, but nothing ever happens. Even if im just in my house at san diego sitting on my computer, i know i always have the option of going out my door and doing something. Just having that option is so nice... and places are actually open past 8. amazing.

Now i just need a job. Got one at Vons, but its part time and minimum wage.... thats not gonna last too long. With the economy the way it is its proving crazy hard. Money sucks.

Ok enough of the mandatory explination of where my life is at. If someone actually read this whole thing you gotta find batter things to do. I would have stopped after a couple of sentences, but whatever, it had to be said to kick this blog off. You go and move to san diego you gotta at least mention it right? ok. done.

you wanna hear something thats ACTUALLY exciting??? huh??

ONE PIECE. thats right. Now you're probably asking yourself, "what the hell is one piece? like a piece of bread?" No, dumbass, its not bread. Unless of course your speaking of the bread of life! If you do know what One Piece is than you must be a wonderful person. OK... I'll tell you what it is....

Yes, One Piece is the next great anime im watching. If you have talked to me for any extended period of time within the last few months than you've probably inevitably heard me mention Naruto or Bleach. Well ive always liked anime, and ive always known that, i just didnt really watch it. When i was a kid i rememeber seeing this one anime on Saturday morning. i would wake up at 6 to watch it, i could never remember the name of it because the name was in Japanese, but since that day ive always known i was actually Japanese.... i mean, that i liked anime. Ive searched high and low for that anime but never found it again, it only aired one season and disappeared into my memory.

HOWEVER! Thomas Hugo recently introduced me to it once again, And i realized that most animes stream on the internet. This discovery has changed my recent life. I watched death note a long time ago, and found one of the old CDs Thomas Hugo burned for me, i remember him saying that if i liked anime i should check out Avatar or Naurto. Im not sure which one he said, but i had known of both just from seeing ads for em in stores and whatnot. So i watched Avatar, and loved it... but then i watched Naruto... and things got serious!!! (anime is serious business, if you disagree thats because you have weak mental skills).

So yea... One Piece. I caught up on Naruto and Bleach, now im pushing through the almost 400 episodes of One Piece. One piece is a very dear part of my life right now. I wake up to it, and fall asleep to it. Its about a crew of pirates with this psychotic captain, Monkey D. Luffy, who wants to find One Piece, which is the greatest treasure in the world. The crew is only 7 people but they are all awesome in their own ways. Theres obviously tons more to it than that, but im not going to outline almost 200 hours of plot to you here.....

man ive gone on a lot about anime... i think ill re-gather my thoughts now and post a bit later.... But at least you now know where my head is at... From now on i'll be able to post better blogs, with the important stuff out of the way. buttertown. I'll try to update soon.
